Music Ministry at Asbury

Our congregation is alive, richly varied and growing. From classics and traditional to contemporary styles, our desire is to reach everyone with the message of Jesus Christ. We invite you to take a moment to peruse our menu of music activities and find a place to become involved.

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." Colossians 3:15-17

Contemporary Music

There are several praise bands that serve in rotation in the contemporary (aCross Generations) worship services. On occasion, we hold a musicians' audit. This is a chance for us as a staff to find out what talent is out there and waiting to be used for God’s kingdom. An announcement for such audits will be published in our weekly bulletin a few weeks in advance. However, if you are a vocalist, we always have openings to serve in the aG Choir. Handbells have been rung in Christian worship dating back to the Israelites. David praised God with bells and cymbals. In Britain, the first missionaries brought bells with them as they spread the gospel. Bells were the primary musical instrument of the church in the middle ages, and their basic design has remained virtually unchanged to the present. Be a part of this visually and aurally beautiful and historical worship medium.

The Asbury Ringers is an advanced group of handbell ringers who provide wonderful offerings in music for our congregation. The group is under the direction of Heather Batchelor, and participation is open to those with some degree of musical skills. Rehearsals are Wednesday at 6:00PM in Room F001 in the basement of the Faith Building.

The Wesley Ringers is a handbell group designed for those of all skill levels. Whether you are new to music or have been playing for years, you will find a place in this bell group. Rehearsal is Mondays at 11:45am in room F001 in the basement of the Faith Building. For additional information on all Bell Choirs contact Terry Jackson x 236

The Voices of Christ is open to all youth currently attending grades 7-9. The C.H.R.I.S.T. Choir is open to students in grades 10-12. For additional information please contact Susan Farris at X235.
